Vision:
To provide an automated data access system that can gather and re-publish public industry data, trading partner data as well as internal company data relevant to electronic components. This “Behind the Firewall” XML-part data router is a superior alternative to a huge central component database.
Salient Features:
Hurricane is the web-centric enterprise server that supports corporate workflow, distributed collaboration (centralized), sharing, concurrency and versioning control on design-supply chain business components (BoM, AML, CAE/CAD, MRP) along with customizable alerts (smart monitoring agents) on them. These can be managed live among engineers, procurement managers, distributors and part brokers.
It is a product designed to run on corporate network behind the proxy server. Its purpose is to manage Users, Approved Manufacturer Lists (AMLs) and Bill of Materials (BoMs) for HES registered users. Moreover, it provides alert services on critical information for registered BoM and AML parts.
Users can be managed in groups (to represent projects and departments) having different privileges. They can import, export and share their BoMs across the company with other users. While importing BoMs, the parts are searched in AMLs for existence. If AMLs are changed with time, the BoM users are appropriately notified of these changes.
The alerts are generated on BoM parts based on latest information accessed through Data Storm from various data vendors. Design information is maintained private by HES through centralizing BoM parts and then fetching information from the internet. Alerts can be scheduled by groups to run automatically at different times.
HES is designed to interface with AMLNavigator and PartNavigator client applications.
Multiple AMLs can be stored in HES in Precience Preferred AML format. They can be managed through AML Navigator.
HES also supports PartNavigator users, who are able to access HES data through this application. These users are usually Design Engineers who need PartNavigator to interface with schematic design tools like ORCAD Capture, Mentor Design Architect and Cadence ConceptHDL. Through this tool they can perform risk assessment on all design parts and dynamically update their designs. Moreover, they can generate BoMs for these designs. Then using HES web interface they can import and share their BoMs with other users in the company.
In future, HES shall also incorporate Data Storm functionalities to work as a switch for local and remote data providers.
The above feature will enable HES to access multiple CIS data sources, and company’s (OEMs like Cisco, SUN and Nortel) central parts and AML repositories. Moreover, HES will also be able to connect to other Hurricane Server in another company (CEMs like Solectron). This way companies can securely share each others information via HES connectivity.
